| | PRESS RELEASE December 20, 2010 | Chris Blais & Blais Racing Services win the Cal City 150! | Dec 18th 2010 | The last time I raced in Cal City, it was on my motorcycle over 3 years ago. Today I would race my Polaris RZR with my friend Steve Loehr as my co-pilot. Alta Vista Events and Formula Deserts Lites combined forces and are trying to get a new series started which includes motorcycles, ATV's, UTV's, and Moto powered buggies. The day started off with light rain and continued throughout the entire race. Because of the weather, a lot of racers were scared off and there were only a total of 2 UTV's and 1 Hayabusa powered buggy that would take on the 50-mile course (2 laps) for a total of 100 miles in the pouring rain and cold conditions. I started last (timed start) and quickly caught the other two racers within the first five miles. We were stuck in a single file line as there weren't too many places to pass. I made the move on the other UTV of Chris Ward and then made the pass on the buggy a quarter-mile later. After that, we just kept on the gas and won by at least a half of a lap. Later I found out that the other UTV (Chris Ward) tried to make the pass on the buggy just after I did, and got tangled up and flipped over. I had heard they got going again but then got a flat tire which ended their race. The course was very well laid out especially for a UTV. A great mix of some tighter stuff mixed with some really fast roads and some short rough sections. This is going to be a fun series with these car friendly courses. I have to say that my Blais Racing Services, HRT Motorsports, Dragonfire, Fluidyne, FMF, Mastercraft, Kenda, Fox Shox Polaris RZR worked flawless again! This was the first time racing with my new 8-ply Kenda SBS Bounty Hunter tires and I was very impressed of how they held up and hooked up in the wet dirt/ mud. Thanks again to all of my sponsors that help keep my team and I out racing, my parents and my wife for helping me pit, and my friends for coming out and supporting me. | Chris Blais staging for the Cal City 150
