SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ENDURO RIDERS
1ST ANNUAL SIDEWINDERS ENDURO
OFFICIAL RESULTS
1999

Thank you for riding the Sidewinder Enduro. If your name does not appear in these results you did not turn in a scorecard. SCER wishes to thank South Bay Motorsports, North County Yamaha, Cycle Parts West, and Motor Works.
Stop by one of these shops and say thank you! These events would not be possible without their support. Classes were combined due to a lack of riders per class.

Well, the weather held out and made for a great weekend of racing!
The dust was minimal ( I said minimal). I received a lot of compliments on the event. Everyone seemed to have a great ride. A speedy recovery goes out to Nicholas Blais who managed to finish and trophy with a sprained and swollen foot. It seemed to be quite a race day for the Blais family as Christopher Blais took honors for first overall and first regular B, Yes B! Watch out A riders!

First overall honors in C class goes to Colin Smith with a score of 12.053.
1st overall and the D-class go to Tom Grimes who beat out Michael Burnett but just 4 seconds with a score of 2.018.

There was good competition in each class and everyone turned in a good ride. There was some confusion in the middle of loop 3 come some of you missed check 10 which puts you early into the stream crossing at camp. AMA rules state 51% of all riders must miss a check to throw it out. 75% of loop 3 riders made check 10. I have missed checks, it happens. Coral Canyon is tight and easy to get lost in. Perhaps next year we will have more help and more markings!

The frustrating part came when some of you hit the stream crossing early. Although I rode ahead of Loop 3 and only came across two riders, someone in camp felt it was a dangerous situation and closed the rest of the loop. This was not my decision. This was the A/B loop all of you were warned of oncoming traffic at the riders meeting. While I don't support the decision, I was not accessible at the time and it was done and the interest of safety. Thank God the turkey trot has three separate loops!

Next season has six points-paying events on the schedule. You will need to be SCER members to earn year-end awards. Membership will be available at the Turkey Trot Enduro on November 7th, 1999. We should have a complete event schedule at that time. There will be an awards banquet for the Sidewinder Enduro Friday, June 25th, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at round table Pizza, 599 Severin Drive La Mesa 619-589-1510.

We will have some great photos from this event as well as a video from the 1994 ISDE in Tulsa! No, we are not buying your dinner. If you can't make it the banquet trophies may be picked up at the Turkey Trot Enduro. See you at the banquet….

Bob.
